I See God In You

These are all people in my life, mostly from the church I am part of, the Salvation Army Worship Center- it's really more like a family. I knew from the first time I went and found myself crying from being touched by the Holy Spirit the whole time that this was a special place. It's in the rougher area of Nashville, people that attend come from many different backgrounds. We don't have sermon- we just sing worship songs and then let the Holy Spirit lead people in sharing scriptures, testimonies and praying for each other. Everyone has something to offer and everyone gets a chance to.

Mrs. Ida always offers simple but powerful words. I love when we are worshipping and she talks out loud to God.

Praying for each other

Lisa is a quiet, sweet lady but when she feels strongly about a scripture or what she's saying, she can really roar. It's powerful.

These are some of the sweet kids from the neighborhood. A lot of kids come on Sunday morning on their own without their parents.

Mrs. Ernie is like a mom to me. Her and Mr. Steve are the pastors at the Salvation Army. She is the one who first asked me to lead worship. I've always been a singer/songwriter and even sung on a team at the Nashville House of Prayer- but I didn't think of myself as a "Worship Leader". Mrs. Ernie asked me to and it's become one of my favorite things to do.

Mr. Steve is not afraid to be unconventional. I don't think he'd mind me saying, he cries often because the spirit of God is touching him and all of us. He's been brave enough to give up "programs" in favor of letting The Holy Spirit lead our gatherings. It's takes a lot of humility and faith to trust God is a better leader than any one man- he leads us well by leading us straight to God. (He also was joking that people will think "who's that pilot in your video" because of their uniforms hahaha)

This is Terrance, who was seen in the video, this video was taken at a monthly house concert I host. Singer/songwriters, friends and music lovers get together to just have a good time. It's not about competition, performance or "one upping" each other.

This is Michelle and her new baby. Dane and Michelle are one of the young couples at our church.

I was listening to I See God In You today and I thought of my Mom. She has been gone for 8 years and I still miss her but I know where she is and she is in a better place and in no more pain.

I was 13 when I remember her being sick and from that point on it was a chronic thing. That in itself played into why I wanted to be a nurse. There were many times she and all of us thought she would not make it but she never lost her faith or felt that God was not with her. Even when she was at her worst she thought of others. No matter what was going on her 7 children came first. She always got us some little something for us on our birthdays and at Christmas. Long story short, my dad was an alcoholic, not around very much for many years and other things until I was 15 but she stayed with him and kept our family together. She was an amazing lady and you know even when she was so sick her thoughts were on others. She would send other people cards and check on them and keep them in her prayers even when she was in the hospital. I would watch her make candy and cook for others when she barely had the strength to stand up. She awalys looked for the good in others and taught me to never judge and treat others how you want to be treated. She would take us to church every Sunday and was thankful for what she had. Did she have an easy life, no. She had a father she never knew and a mother who was not there and had a very hard childhood. I watched her sit and care for my dad when he was dying with cancer and realized how much they loved one another.

I remember thinking how can she stay with my dad and put so much into others when she was so sick, In time I realized all her strength came from God and when I hear your song I think of my Mom and all that she gave me and what an example she was to me even though at times I didn't see it. Did I have the best childhood, no but I had mom who made sure we had what we needed and taught 7 kids about the love and forgiveness that you can only find thru Jesus. Do I feel cheated, no. God knew what I needed and that was to have the mother I had and to be thankful to have had her as long as I did and I know I will see her again She was an an amazing lady and not just because she was my mom but she was a woman of God. So when I hear your song I think of how I saw God in her...

Hi Lara, my name is Richard Ellis. I heard your song "I See God In You" and immediately thought of my daughter Alina. When she was twelve years old she gave her life to Christ and has never looked back.  I took her to church, she led me to Christ. I dont know what this world has for Alina but I do know what she has for this world. I am so proud of her for who she is. I don't know how to describe the Christ like love she has in her heart.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to honor her.
-Richard

Physical Hard
Carrying 250lb concrete cylinders 2 miles thru the jungle of Costa Rica to be able to provide water for a remote village. These students sacrificed their comfort to serve those who have yet to hear the word of God.

I See God In You Uncle Buddy!
Many call him Uncle Buddy or Dave but I am certain that God looks upon him and says "well done my good and faithful servant." In his 18 years of serving as a youth minister, he has touched, influenced, helped, mended, encouraged, steered, mentored, guided, and lead thousand of youth in a rural community called Damascus, Va. and in adjecent towns. From the depths of caves (photo), to streets in NY and TN, to the tip of the earth in Belize, Dave's life continually demonstrates servanthood.

Little Brother
About a year and a half ago, I was suffering from depression and anxiety issues. I was so tired both emotionally and physically from trying to balance college and work with family issues. One day I was on the phone with my little brother. He knew I had been sad for a while. Over the phone, he told me not to worry. That God loves me, and that he was going to take care of me, and everything would be alright. I saw God in my 11 year old brother, and knew he had great plans for him.

The Love of God expressed in a hug

Who would have thought that one hug would be remembered for years to come. After deciding to let God FULLY have my life and to stop trying to do it all on my own, I stood up with tear-stained eyes. What awaited me was a hug from the Lord. He used a new friend to show His unexplainable Love through a simple hug. He used someone of a people group that I had been taught to hate to show more love than I had ever felt before. Thanks for loving people through the eyes of the Lord!

My Guys

My husband and my twin sons. When I think of the trials that we have been through as a family and that we have come out the other side, from an Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis for both boys when they were young to addiction entering our home and being overcome I know that God has never left our side and I see that every day when I look into each of their eyes. We owe what we were, what we have become and what we will be to the Lord, no questions asked.

My Stepfather

My stepfather passed away on the 29th of December 2011. This man was an inspiration to everyone who met him. He had a hard life but turned it around completely, married my mom and became a father. I watched as God loved my mom through this man. He was selfless, loving, forgiving and always put the needs of others before himself. God used this man to show me, and so many others what it means to love. We miss him everyday but we are so thankful God brought him into our lives.

I see God in my sweet cousin

My sweet cousin, Bobbie Lee, was called home to be healed from cancer on January 18th. But I saw God in her everyday of the 167 days she fought this horrible diseases. She remained faithful to our God, even though she knew this disease was going to take her from her family, which includes her precious daughter Isabelle. And now, we will see God work through Isabelle as he carries her through these days without mom. Bobbie Lee was a fighter, and held the true spirit of God!

My mother: My best friend.

God has blessed me with an opportunity to witness a special miracle: my mothers testimony. She gave her life to Jesus at 17, and let the glory of God's grace shine in her life-even as she went onto encounter Lymphoma at 19; followed years later by 2 rounds of Breast Cancer. 7 months ago, she was diagnosed w/ stage 4 Stomach Cancer and after enduring chemo & faithful prayer warriors believing God-2 weeks ago she was given the report that she is cancer free! She is glowing at the GOODNESS of God!!

Amazing woman of God right here

Kendall has taken up her cross and gone where God called her. She moved to New Orleans and lost contact with her family because they wanted her to stay close to home in North Carolina for collage. She knew that God was calling her else where and wanted to fulfill Gods plan for her. She now works at the Baptist friendship House in New Orleans And goes to collage. Hearing her testimony and talking to her one privately has shown me that God is always there even when nobody else is.

I admire my children's love for God.

My children love to pray every night and read the bible before they head to bed. They always have compassion for others who don't have what they need. My kids are forgiving towards one another. They could be angry one minute about something small and the next I notice they are willing to reconcile. My youngest is always smiling about everything and lifting the stress away from home. I know with tough times my kids are always smiling not matter what.

Mighty Woman of God
This woman is truly anointed to minister the gospel! When she walks to the pulpit, there is a holy "thunder" in each footstep and lives are literally changed through the anointing and power that God has placed on her life! I am truly honored and blessed to have her in my life!

My Son
Meet Will, I actually joined Lara Landon's Street Crew about the time he was born. Will's birth was a struggle, the cord was wrapped around his neck. He finally came out & was blue &lifeless. I recall shielding my wife whilst listening to the erruption of urgency in the room. All I could pray was "He's my son" but with that I felt God's hands surround me. Soon the old country Doc had him breathing, not by fancy machine, but by waiting. While I see God in all my kids, I truly see the Son in Will.

I see God in my friend Mary Green at Church, it's always a pleasure to see and hug her! Hugging her, is like hugging Jesus, you can feel his love and hers. Tod & Janae
This is a picture of my grandchildren of whom I have the pleasure of raising. Tod is a special needs kid with ADHD, reactive attachment disorder and sensory disorder issues. Janae is his little sister. They love each other tremendously. At the end of each day when Janae and I pick Tod up from daycare they run to each other and hug. They are best friends. They both love the Lord and will tell you "You gotta love God first". They are amazing and I can't imagine my life without them.

Seth
Seth is my 11 year old son. He was physically abused when he was 2 1/2 by his mom and her boyfriend. They were arrested and charged and i was granted full custody. He was hospitalized the last abuse with a broken femur bone, after being hospitalized earlier with a broken leg and severe cuts to the forehead both from abuses. He had play and individual therapy. I see a glimpse of God in him as he has put the past behind him, and is able to flourish as any other child. He is my gift from God.

My Angel Who Lives with Me.

My daughter came into my life 10 years ago. She was not only a miracle baby, she was an angel sent from God. I have seen God heal her from broken bone, from deafness. Everyday I see God in her, she is such an encouragement to me & everyone around her. I know God uses her a lot in my life. We go on missions, we help those who have nothing, & everytime someone is hurting she smiles & says Everything will be ok because Jesus cares.

The Holy Spirit shinin in Trujillo, Peru
Last summer i went to Peru on a short termed missions trip through a nonprofit called Inca Link. While i was there i met this little guy. His name is Luis is the sweetest kid in the world. I see God in this little boy. For someone who has basically nothing and be as joyful as he is is truly an amazing thing to witness. The holy spirit was definitely moving through this place. Without a doubt i see God in Luis! He is the God of Luis, the God of Trujillo, and the God of the entire world!
